I have a Weslo Cadence M5 treadmill. When i used it, it tended to trip out the electrics when the treadmill was started, but worked when I put the trip switch back up again and tried again. However, it has now tripped whilst I was actually using it. I can now turn the machine on, but the moment I start the treadmill it cuts out (tripping the electrics). An electrician I phoned says it's not the electrics, as I can use other products from the same plug-point. Is it repairable, and indeed it is economical to repair? Jonathan

Hi, firstly change the fuse in the plug to a higher voltage, then if you are using an extention wire make sure all the wire is unrolled. i had the same problem with my m5. i was using an extention wire on a roll that was shorting out the trip on the treadmill and cutting the electric off. so just by putting a higher amp in the plug and i am now using a 2m extention alot safer and much better,

Hi. I have a Horizon T-62 treadmill. It stopped working during a workout and my son smelled an electrical burning smell and saw small puff of smoke. I removed motor cover and reset circuit breaker then turned on with no one on it. It immediately tripped the treadmill circuit breaker and I also smelled electrical burning smell. Any ideas on how to isolate the problem? Treadmill worked fine until then. The belt had been lubricated recently. thanks

Hi there. It sounds like something is shorting out inside your treadmill. If you're handy with electrical systems, I would recommend taking the cover off the treadmill and looking at all the connections for any wires that may be stripped/touching. Make sure the treadmill is unplugged when you do this! The only reason for the breaker to trip when you turn it on is for an electrical short or a serious malfunction (my guess would be the motor). If you come across a stripped wire, you can tape it up using electrical tape. If you aren't handy with this sort of thing, please call an expert! It can be very dangerous, especially if you are unfamiliar with the parts/how a circuit works! Good luck! Alex

Treadmill trips electrics

Either your Motor or Motor Control Board(MCB) is faulty. Try testing your Motor with a Drill Battery: 1. Disconnect the machine's power lead from the power socket, so that there is no power to the machine. 2. Open the Motor Hood. 3. Disconnect the Motor + and - leads from the Motor Control Board. 4. Connect + and - leads(normally Red and Black) to the Drill Battery. The Motor should turn the Belt. With the Motor leads disconnected from the MCB, you can connect the machine to the power, Press Start, and if this trips your Fuse Box you know its definitely the MCB. Only carry out these tests if you are competent. Lethal Voltages are present. Try samsfitnesssolutions.co.uk

Treadmill Problem Ocaisionally, my Pro-form XP 550E shuts down (loses electrical power) when the start button is pushed. The reset button is not tripped when this happens. Any ideas? When this happens, I have to wait several minutes before the treadmill will respond to the key (power-up) again. The treadmill is about six years old.

I believe that your must LUBE the deck belt firt, this happen when the lack of maintenance, shut down. Can be the deck worn.2) LUBE the rollers bearing.3) if the problem persist you must to test: input voltage motor, if there are the motor need REPAIR.4) measure the output voltage board, for input voltage motor, if there are NOT the board is faulty. see the block. However you must RUN the software calibration for diagnose, troubleshooting.God bless you

My proform 575 treadmil keeps tripping the electric do you think the motor has gone

Hi michelleboon,Your treadmill is likely overcoming the home's ability to provide the power required that's why it keeps tripping. Most new treadmills require a dedicated 20 amp line. As the treadmill breaks in, it will draw less amperage but the long and the short of it is to check the owner's manual for the power requirements and then check the breaker that it's on. You can try to elevate the treadmill somewhat as this changes the user's gait and the result is a lower amp draw. Also, make sure to provide the treadmill with the power required. If after checking what I mentioned above and still the issue persists it could be the motor that has problem or the drive system that the motor drives. If something is bound up, the motor could draw much more current than normal. You will need a local repairman to do further checking and repair with this.Hope it helps.Thank you for using Fixya.
