Nordictrack EXP 1000 Treadmill Quits after 10 Minutes

Hello There, Thank you for all the information. It appears as if your walk belt is worn. What is happening is the friction from the bottom of the belt is actually causing the motor to overheat (there is a thermal cutout inside where the 2 blue wires go) When the belt wears the cloth on the underside becomes flattened out causing too much surface area to contact the walk board, thus the extra friction. To check your walk board you can loosen the adjusting bolts on the rear and while lifting the walk board look underneath. If there is any wear/white areas then you will need to replace the board as well. You will be able to tell by just rubbing your hand across it and check for any places where the black film may be coming off. Also the only time you really need to replace any of the rollers is when the bearings go bad or the pulley on the front roller separates. The rollers are about a 1% chance of causing this problem. Good Luck! and great question, Tim

Inspect belt and deck. The deck should be smooth without any grooves, pits, or exposed wood. The belt should have a consistent ridged feel from one side of the belt to the other (a belt can be worn out without any sensory signs of a problem). If you feel deep grooves in the deck or uneven wear on the underside of the belt, part replacement is necessary. Visually look at the underside of the belt. It should have a consistent look. Black streaks in the belt are a sign of bottom-layer wear through. Very worn belts will feel smooth in the areas you normally walk- you would think smooth is good but not in belts because the smoother the belt, the more contact area. Continued use of your treadmill may damage expensive electrical components. 85% of all Treadmill problems are cause by worn belt and deck I would revisit the scene of the crime again.

Nordictrack C2050, belt was slipping and I got the cover off. and black stuff is all around the belt moving the roller that moves the treadmill. When I walk on it the belt would shuffle and sometimes the roller would stop. What do I need to order? I probably need the belt that makes the roller go and dont know if I need the pully to help the roller go?

I am not an expert on what you may need to order but I do want to give you a link in case that may be helpful... FitnessRepairParts.com has parts lists for several versions of the C2050... look for a decal or label on the machine to get the exact model number, then click on that model and look in the list for 'Roller, Front' or 'Roller, Rear' or 'Treadbelt.' Hope that helps. Also if you need someone to come look at it you can find a list of servicers near you here

While using my Nordictrack a2550 this morning, the walking belt began to slip very badly. I checked the alignment and adjusted the tension of the belt as per the user's manual but the belt stills slip very badly. Please help.

If it really is the walking belt that is slipping keep tightening the adjustment screws till the belt will not slip when you try to stop it ( set speed to about 3 and then with your foot try to stop belt from spinning - you should be able to make the motor and whole machine come to a stop ) make sure it is really walk belt spinning and it isnt the motor belt slipping. (if it is motor belt slipping when you try to do the stop the belt trick i just described you will see the walk belt and front roller stop but still hear the motor turning) once you get walk belt tight enough so it doesnt slip then you can worry about keeping the belt centered. let me know if you need more help on this and let me know how the stop the belt test went good luck!
