Heart rate monitor reading "lo"

I have a Timex Ironman Triathlon Monitor. When I connect the HRM, the monitor 'beeps' constantly and altough I receive the heart rate readout, I also get the symbol "lo" flashing in the top right hand corner. I have replaced the battery in the HRM strap and reset the HRM strap too. Neither has fixed the issue. Any suggestion?

I have had my Timex Ironman HR monitor for 5 months. I am a triathlete so I know what zone my heart rate should be at running speeds. I had no problems for 4 months - but now the watch shows a hear rate between 40-60 bpm - but I know it shuld be 115-135. Also last month the watch stopped reading the heart rate from the strap for a day - but after a master reset it started working again. I have replaced the battery in the strap. I do not know what else to do. Can you help?

The heart rate is recorded at these abnormally low levels because the sensor has lost its sensibility. This can be caused by only 2 things: 1 - the battery for the watch is almost dried and its voltage has dropped so low that the sensor can't work no more. You will have to replace the battery. because your watch is a sealed type you should take it to a repair shop: they will know how to open it carefully enough as to not damage the rubber seals.; and if they can't open it without damage they will have replacement rings.2 - the sensor itself (which basically is just a microphone that listens to the beats) is clogged by dirt. Wash the watch in hot soapy water and look very carefully for cracks in the rubber of the strap - if you find one then the sensor has been permanently damaged by the sweat that seeped in. In that case it's time for a new one.

My Timex Ironman Triathlon HRM has stopped recording calories. What can I do to fix this? It's still reading heart my heart rate so I don't think it's a battery change.

Not sure which model you have. Manuals for Timex products can be found here: I would try reprogramming your watch according to the manual instructions for your model. If that does not correct the problem then would consider replacing the battery.

Inaccurate/intermittent heart rate info?

Here are the things I have noticed that help:- enough moisture between the HR monitor and your chest. Apply water right before your workout to make sure it isn't all dry between the time you put on your monitor and when you actually started your workout.- Make sure the strap is tight enough. Mine gets loose over time and the bouncing of running will give me inaccurate readings until I tighten it up again. You can test if this is the problem by using your hands to press the monitor more tightly against your chest - if that seems to fix the problem that a loose strap could be it.- Use a "conductive gel" instead of water between the monitor and your chest. Conductive gels are pretty cheap.
