Purchasing a Biofeedback Machine

Since there are many different types of Biofeedback techniques, there a variety of Biofeedback machines available to purchase. The theory behind Biofeedback is that we can train our body's involuntary muscles to react to certain conditions. The Biofeedback machines available to purchase for home use work the same way the practitioners' do. The machines relay information in real time about your body temperature, your brainwave patterns, your muscle tension or heart/respiration rates. Biofeedback techniques have been developed to treat conditions ranging from attention disorders to incontinence. You can purchase Biofeedback machines for use at home; but the high costs can be prohibitive. Many therapists suggest getting a simple machine that only measures one system, like your heart rate or temperature, to minimize costs of continuing your therapy at home. Follow these steps to purchase a machine you can afford comfortably. Step1 Get a diagnosis of your condition. Ask your health care practitioner about the feasibility of biofeedback therapy for that condition. Step2 Find out before you start your therapy what projection your therapist has for your course of treatment. Knowing the time frame necessary for your biofeedback to have impact on your condition will help determine the need to purchase biofeedback machines. The longer the course of treatment, the more you should invest in renting or purchasing biofeedback machines. Step3 Ask your therapist for a recommendation on what machines to lease or purchase to continue your treatments at home, if necessary. Step4 Find out whether buying these machines is covered by your insurance. If not, ask about the possibility of renting from a medical supply company. Try having your medical doctor write a letter stating medical necessity for the device and outlining the possible adverse outcomes for your condition if you don't get it. Insurance companies play the odds. If they think you'll cost them less by providing the equipment than by not providing, they may waive their policy and cover the machine.

After about 30-35 minutes of use my treadmill shuts off. The screen goes blank and the belt stops. After about thirty seconds the machine comes back to life and I can reprogram it again to restart.

Hi There, strange activity of the upper board could be a result of a bad power situation from the lower board, or we have also seen the main upper board flake out due to bad connections and failed timing parts. You can contact buyfitnessrepairpartsDOTcom for more help if needed. Good Luck.

I have a Nordic Track EXP1000 that wad purchased

Go to click on manual input manufacturer and model name 1000. Try this calibration procedure: 1) Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key. If this doesn’t work, click on the help topic entitled “Alternate Calibration Codes” for key sequence instructions to enter calibration.2) Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test.3) Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.4) BE CAREFUL, THE TREADMILL WILL RUN AT FULL SPEED IN THIS NEXT MODE! DO NOT STAND ON THE WALKING BELT. Press the Speed Up key and hold it down until 85 is shown in the Distance window (some models may show the 85 number in another window).5) If the top speed of the treadmill does not match the displayed speed on the computer console, adjust the max speed potentiometer (pot) on the motor control board. This is the board that the red and black motor wires connect directly into in the motor area. The Max Speed pot is clearly labeled.6) The max speed potentiometer is a small square with a mobile center and is located in one corner of the board and is labeled MAX SPD. It is near the harness that carries the speed signal labeled H,W,L. Using a small insulated screwdriver adjust this potentiometer clockwise to speed up and counter-clockwise to slow down the max speed of the treadmill. A tiny turn of this potentiometer will make a big difference in speed so be careful when making adjustments.7) It is not important to get the speed set exactly at the max speed of the treadmill but do make sure to get the speed within .2 MPH of the max speed of the treadmill. For instance if the max speed of the treadmill is 10 MPH, make sure to have the speed set between 9.8 MPH and 10.2 MPH. Some models have a 12 MPH top speed, so please check your manual if you aren’t sure.8) THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE IF THIS STEP IS SKIPPED.After completing calibration of the speed, press the Speed Down key. The treadmill will automatically return to 0 MPH. Please allow the unit to stop completely before continuing.9) THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE IF THIS STEP IS SKIPPED.Press the Stop key once and remove the safety key.If you still do not have belt movement then call iconfitness @ 1-800 999-3756

When my wife uses the machine it barely moves on level 20 she is 118 pounds. When I use the machine on the same level or less it seems to be working properly I am 210 pounds, we recently purchased the machine used it has a new alternator and circuit board. please help.

The problem may lie in your wife's low weight - she just doesn't have enough weight to move the stairs at that resistance ( my wife weighs 100 lbs and can't get it to move at a high level). If she can hold some weights in her hands and have ankle weights on, she will be able to move the steps faster.Hope this helps!!
